Children of the Dawn is a public benefit organisation caring for over 820 rural orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa, including 360 teenagers.

Children of the Dawn has recently been using the sport of hiking and the world of mountaineering. 360 rural teens have been participating in 36 hikes around South Africa, gaining fitness, self-confidence and a better understanding on how to persevere. Our programme allows young people to develop inner strength, achieve goals beyond self-imposed limits, and also shows success in improving their mental health.

These hikes led to the selection of 8 rural orphaned and vulnerable teenagers who will take the trip of a lifetime to hike around the Mont Blanc in July 2013.
