Middlesex and England batsman Nick Compton says that although Australia are the favourites for the 2015 Ashes, England have a good chance of winning thanks to their home advantage.
Compton expects a hard-fought contest when the two sides lock horns in battle, beginning in Cardiff tomorrow (Wednesday 8th July). “I think England have a very good chance in their own back yard,” he said, speaking to as he prepared to film the “Ultimate Fielding Test” with Crazy Catch in Uxbridge.
“It’s always notoriously difficult for opposition touring teams to come to England because we have a Dukes cricket ball which is often not used in other parts of the world. “It swings, it stays harder for a bit longer so I think with the likes of Jimmy Anderson and Mark Wood I think England will be a lot tougher than expected.”
Compton’s Aussie opponent in the Crazy Catch battle is fellow Middlesex batsman Joe Burns who expects the 2015 series will rival 2015 for drama.
“I think coming into the series the Aussies were very confident but (were unfortunate) to run into an English team that just had the momentum of the country behind them and all the amazing moments that they produced.”
