The Crazy Catch is used by professional athletes to improve their performance vision skills include world renowned eye specialists Dr Sherylle Calder and Dr Zoe Wimshurst. The eye muscle is one of the most important for cricketers in all elements of the game including catching so this fielding challenge tests visual skills and cognitive decision making which is the ability of the brain to process information and make decisions accordingly.
Here with no visual triggers such as hand angle – the players have to catch only their teams coloured balls which is red for England and Nick Compton and green for Australia and Joe Burns, both of Middlesex. At a very close distance and on the insane side of the Crazy Catch, reaction times are very short!
