Strike, Defend, Evade is an excellent new batting drill from Crazy Catch working on your Vision and Cognitive decision making. With the coach feeding behind the batsmen, it’s a great position from which to provide instant feedback or hone a certain shot.
Three different coloured balls are used (the Crazy Catch Vision balls are also slightly different weights which come off the net at different speeds) and firstly green balls are used with the batter trying to evade balls around the head area replicating short pitched deliveries. Then a red ball is add with the batter looking to strike and go after each ball; thirdly a defend ball is added. Now the coach feeds randomly these three coloured balls and the batter needs to process the colour and make the appropriate decision.
Again with the Crazy Catch, you can alter the level of challenge in this drill by varying the pace of the feed – whilst if you want even more unpredictability – try the insane side. England women’s opener Tammy Beaumont whose currently lining up in the #WWC17 provides her top tip
It’s important to look to play the ball first, then get out the way if needed. As you develop, you’ll learn its hard to control the ball when it gets around your head height so it may be best to leave those. Whether you duck or sway normally depends on the line of the ball. If it’s outside off stump or the line of your body its easier to sway out of the way. If the ball is on the line of your body then its better to duck under the ball to avoid falling on the floor!!
Running alongside the Women’s World Cup hosted around England this June and July; Crazy Catch are pleased to announce our brand new campaign “Think Outside the Box” which see’s England’s Tammy Beaumont demonstrating some new and innovative Crazy Catch drills for cricket working with Director of Cricket at Millfield School Mark Garaway.
Says Marketing Manager Kate Costin Think Outside the Box is all about providing coaches with new drill ideas away from the traditional throw and catch concept often associated with Crazy Catch “This series of six drills shows the Crazy Catch as an all round training aid for cricket so we have some great batting drills and ways to use the Crazy Catch to improve your visual skills and decision making”. “Coaches will be able to access these drills via our social channels and also download the FREE PDF which gives all the information you need to run the practice at your school or club so the drill set up, equipment list, progressions, coaching points and some great advice from Tammy and Mark. We are sure that players will be able to make significant gains in their game with this outside the box thinking and hopefully we will see the Crazy Catch being used more creatively as its a hugely versatile piece of kit”
The Crazy Catch classic range for cricket has both a SANE and INSANE side when used with a small ball. This enables the product to be used at all levels of the game across batting, bowling and fielding skills whilst its also great for team games, warm ups and for gym work incorporating reaction training.

Thanks to everyone who got involved in our Crazy Catch #Treemendous competition which was our 2016 Christmas campaign. We loved seeing everyone’s amazing Crazy Catch skills and we are delighted to announce the winner of the competition is HOLLIE WALKER!! Well done Hollie!!
You can see Hollie’s one handed, two ball juggling as part of our finalists montage video released last week. Hollie is a keen netballer and uses her Crazy Catch regularly to improve her skills.
We are just sorting out the cheque presentation with Hollie and hope to share a bit more of her story with you in the next few days …
Real Madrid is one of the world’s biggest football clubs and they along with top goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis, have been using Crazy Catch for a couple of years now. Watch this new video of a reaction session featuring Keylor Navas, Kiko Casilla and Ryan Yanez Alabart.
This session uses the Crazy Catch Wildchild Double Trouble as well as a mixture of footballs and smaller tennis balls. Using smaller balls develops quicker reflexes and also aids visual performance (plus going back to using footballs then makes these balls much easier to save). The unique thing about the Crazy Catch is its INSANE rebound so the tennis ball comes off the net very erratically pushing you to the limit and making for a very intensive session. Luis also sometimes pushes the net as the ball impacts to create more pace and unpredictability for these elite keepers. Try some of these ideas in your next session …
Crazy Catch is the original and best rebound net for football (or Soccer) training … Chose from the Double Trouble range; these have large netting on one side, so it’s INSANE even with a football (grey side in image above), then small netting on the front. The Ultimate Rebound Net is available from leading football retailers including Pro Direct Soccer.
If you feel like you are just going through the paces in your warm ups, then you need Crazy Catch. Add excitement and immediately get your reactions sharp and your hand-eye co-ordination in play ahead of your game or training session. You can also use Crazy Catch for some high intensity team games and challenges to development camaraderie and communication skills.
Take a look at these couple of examples posted on 2003 Rugby World Cup winner, Will Greenwood’s instagram page … here he is with the lads from Maidenhead Rugby but these and similar drills work just as well in other sports. Get creative and share your drills @CrazyCatchUK
