8 wins out of 8 saw GB women’s scoop an incredible first Olympic hockey gold medal with Crazy Catch ambassador Maddie Hinch putting in a man of the match performance saving a penalty flick in the game and 5 shuffles in the shootout. Cue a twitter explosion and out pouring of superlatives from the great british public, who had been swept up by the passion and belief showed by all the squad, let superbly by retiring captain Kate Richardson-Walsh, who was subsequently chosen as team GB’s flag bearer in the closing ceremony.
With Maddie and her team mates making both the front and back pages and being chosen by the likes of Sir Steve Redgrave as their Rio 2016 highlight, the girls have certainly achieved their objectives of “Being the difference, Creating history and Inspiring the future” as well as sending the profile of the sport to the next level.
Crazy Catch first met Maddie back at Bisham Abbey in 2011 when the Ultimate Rebound Net was used for vision training and by legendary goalkeeper coach John Hurst for reaction training.
