On Wednesday, 15th November, a very lucky member of the Halesowen based Grasshoppers Netball bagged herself a one-on-one training session with Hertfordshire Mavericks and England star Sasha Corbin.
Sasha set up the competition in conjunction with Crazy Catch UK as part of her Solo Sessions campaign, fun and informative videos designed for netballers to be able to practice drills and hone their skills by themselves.
Sasha said: “I set up Solo Sessions so fellow netballers could have a fun way to practice outside team training sessions, and one great way is to use a Crazy Catch. We had such a positive response to the videos on social media, I decided to set up a competition so one lucky follower could win their very own Crazy Catch and I could give them some tips that would hopefully help them with their game.”
The competition was open to everyone at all levels of ability and eventual winner, Jenna Hadley, was picked by random out of hat and announced via Sasha’s Solo Session channels. The session took place at the Grasshoppers local training venue, Haden Hill Leisure Centre.
Sasha added: “I had a fantastic time with Jenna, it was great for the prize to go to someone that really wanted it. We had so much fun looking at how we could improve her skills and incorporate the Crazy Catch into drills she can practice at home. Jenna had fantastic energy and I wish her, and her team, the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
Jenna commented: “I was completely overwhelmed, and very excited, to find out I had won the session with Sasha. I still don’t think it has sunk in. I only started playing netball in 2014 by attending Back to Netball, so it was such a useful session to learn some key skills and get lots of ideas for training.
“We went through lots of basics, and Sasha definitely made me work, but she was great coach and very patient with me. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from someone so talented to get better at something that you love to do! I had a brilliant time and it will be something I’ll remember forever.”
